Viticulture Seminar – Register Now!

Now that the majority of vineyards have completed harvest (with the remainder within a fortnight of completion), it is time to turn our thoughts to pruning and managing vine health.   The Adelaide Hills Wine Technical Committee has planned a free seminar on “Practical Management of Grapevine Trunk Diseases, and Pruning” which will be held on Tuesday 19 April. The venue will be at the Nepenthe Cellar Door, 93 Jones Road, Balhannah. The morning will commence at 9:30am with a presentation from Mark Sosnowski and his SARDI team on the latest outcomes from research on Eutypa and other trunk diseases. The team has new results for management of trunk disease to compliment reworking techniques, as well as the application of protectant sprays at pruning. After the seminar, a vineyard walk is planned at a nearby vineyard which has been reworked over four seasons to ensure maintenance of grape production during the refurbishment of the vineyard.   A barbeque will be available (free to AHW members) at 1:00pm, followed by a 90 minute seminar on pruning at 2:00pm, with a focus on the pros and cons of both spur and cane pruning as well as optimising the management of vine health at pruning. This seminar will finish at 3:30pm. A promotional flyer is attached and bookings may be undertaken by clicking on the link in the flyer or by logging on to
