This workshop focuses on understanding how clones can contribute to wine style and which clones are best suited to which regions in a changing climate and an ever-evolving marketplace.
It will include a keynote address from Wine Australia Chair Brian Walsh, along with a presentation and tasting from SARDI Viticultural Research Group Leader Michael McCarthy on Chardonnay clonal trials conducted across three different states over three vintages.
Wine Australia Senior Analyst, Mark Rowley, will provide a domestic and international market analysis of Chardonnay, and Nick Dry of Yalumba Nursery will present on Chardonnay clonal material. Researcher Leigh Francis from the Australian Wine Research Institute will also detail the role of varietal thiols in Australian Chardonnay.
Charles Sturt University’s Professor Chris Steel will present on Botrytis threshold trials and Anthony Saliba on consumer preference research.
Also on the agenda will be case studies delivered by leading regional winemakers and viticulturists, and a tutored tasting of premium NSW, Australian and international Chardonnay wines, led by Nick Bullied.
So come and join us for an informative day on the best of Chardonnay.
