Yarra Valley Smoke Taint & Phylloxera Update

The Yarra Valley Winegrowers Association’s Technical Sub Committee invites all Yarra Valley wine and grape producers to attend a Yarra Valley Smoke Taint and Phylloxera Update session.

When:     Thursday 15th May 2014
Time:       10am to 3.00pm (BBQ lunch provided)
Where:    Yarra Glen Memorial Hall, Bell Street, Yarra Glen.
Cost:        $15.00 (YVWGA members)  $25.00 (Non-members)

Smoke Taint: The latest research on Smoke Taint will be presented including recent industry response and advances in risk assessment of grapes and wine.

Phylloxera: Presentations will include identification, biology, detection and management as well as an update on Phylloxera regulatory framework and protocols in Victoria and in particular, the Yarra Valley.

A field identification and management session will take place after lunch at Brooklands Vineyard.

Speakers include:  Ricky James (DEPI Rutherglen), Dr. Gavin Rose (DEPI Macleod),Con Simos (AWRI Adelaide), Dr. Mark Krstic (AWRI Melbourne), Dr. Kevin Powell (Biosciences Research Division – DEPI Rutherglen) and Greg King (Plant Standards, DEPI Knoxfield.

All Yarra Valley producers – both YVWGA members and non-members – are invited and encouraged to attend.
