Women in Wine, is an event presented by Wine Australia and Dan Murphy’s together with partners Riedel and Gourmet Traveller Wine and is the closing event for the month-long Aussie Wine Month.
The event is held on Tuesday, 30 April at The Overseas Passenger Terminal, Circular Quay. The night kicks off at 6pm and concludes at 10pm, tickets are $90 pp and includes a complimentary Riedel glass to use on the night and to take home.
The interactive event will give attendees the opportunity to try some of Australia’s best wines and mix with the women who make them.
There will be five different key areas under the one roof including the
Winemakers’ Regional Experiences Bar,
The Sommeliers’ Garden,
The Viticulturists’ Science Station,
The Dan Murphy’s Winemakers Bar and
The Riedel Bar.
There will be over 80 wines available to taste, their characteristics explained, talks on vineyard operations, matches with food, new varieties, order your favourites on the night and meet the women who have a story to tell about the wine.
Chefs will be serving gnocchi, sliders and other delicious delights, including cheese tables.
At the Gaggenau kitchen join Lauren Murdoch, Head Chef at 3 Weeds in Rozelle for cooking demonstrations, thanks to the Citibank Dining Program.
The event will feature winemakers from across Australia including Corrina Wright from Oliver’s Taranga in McLaren Vale, Viticulturist Mary Retallack – the 2012 Rural Woman of the Year and Sommeliers from Sydney including Group Sommelier for the Keystone Group Sarah Limacher, Pip Whitting from Ivy, Caitlyn Rees from Wine Library, Lara Caraturo from Pilu, Gabrielle Webster from Bloodwood and industry consultants Samantha Payne and Kim Bickley.

On the main stage The Grand Idea will be performing, there will be competitions and a Q&A session held by Gourmet Traveller Wine Editor, Judy Sarris, talking to Corrina Wright, Mary Retallack and Kim Bickley about their careers.
